Although the company has come out and said that they are going to cancel the furloguh (before it even happened) and the company has said that they "hope" to focus more on hiring issues than furloughing issues in the near future. The best that can be said is that the company has come out and said that they don't see a need to furlough through 2004. But you have to take that with a grain of salt as this is the same company that announced furlough, suspended the furlough, canceled the furlough, and then said they hope to focus in on hiring in the near future- All of this within a couple of months....
All of this can be attributed to one word... "NEGOTIATIONS".
My guess... Hiring will not happen until new contract is signed.
We are prepared for the long haul with the "big brown gorilla". The teamsters achieved an industry leading contract, the airline mechanics achieved an industry leading contract... and we are ready to achieve a contract that represents our support of a company that makes over 3 Billion in profits a year.
