That is exactly how it is, minus the hat, clean terminal, flight attendants, and jet bridge.......at Laceys in LRD!
 
That swagger is quickly turning into an incredibly quick power walk bordering on a flat out sprint, with bags flailing crazily behind them. That welcome aboard drink has been replaced with a gentle admonishment to find seats quickly so an on time departure can be achieved and the crew can avoid a waltz on the company carpet when called in to explain the reason for their late departure. Things are not like they are in the movies.

1. I don't know anyone who "runs through the terminal with bags flailing" on a 30 minute turn.

2. I don't know anyone who's even been "called on the carpet" for a late departure.
 
Aside from that, it's pretty accurate. I wish the flying public could see more like this.

They still seem to think we puff a Cohiba as we drive our Corvette to work, then work 4 hours, go to the Ritz-Carlton, and enjoy steak and Martinis. Of course we only do this 4 times a month, because that's all the days we work for our $300,000 a year. :rolleyes:
 
the article is pretty much accurate....but this job is the easiest job I've ever had....the toughest decision to make is where we are going to drink on the over night....now the payscales reflect that. And while we do have the responsibility of all those passengers in the back, the RJ's are cake to fly. You don't even have to be a good pilot anymore. It took more skill to fly GA then it ever did to fly an airliner. Better excercise your index finger, because all you do is mash buttons and talk on the radio. *flame suit on*

I'll agree with that. I went to a friend's fly-in recently, and got to sfy some small GA airplanes I haven't touched in 7+ years, flying off of a narrow, hilly, tree lined private strip. Not for the faint of heart, and definitely requiring more skill than what we do.
 
Wh-wh-what???

I know a good number of guys dancing with the stars on the company carpet for late departures... Some of the regionals like to exert that kind of crap management technique to keep the crews under their thumbs... And some ULCC's as well! And I cut my marathon time blasting thru ORD more times than I care to count when the geniuses changed our plane at the last minute... And damaged many a shin from slow a$$ed pax who were in the way with my bags flailing.
