Does anyone know of any movement out in the job market? It seems that everything is frozen. My company isn't hiring; they're cutting back. Where is all of the business going? Cargo still moves, people still go places, all life hasn't stopped so what's the deal.
Are companies just scared and trying to be lean or are we really going down the tubes?

no life,no raise,no turbine, etc.

Not much going on here at Flight Express. Someone on another post mentioned furloughes(?) I think you would actually just be fired/let go here, not furloughed, but I haven't heard of anything like that. Of course I'm not in the loop either. I just want to fly my Baron, get home to my wife, and thankfully there's about 50 pilots below me so if we do cut back........? I hope everyone keeps writing checks and not paying online!! For what it's worth I'll start applying at the regionals soon(160 ME and coming kinda slow) I'll have 200 finally in a few weeks. Hoping for some miracle from ASA/Comair/Skywest. My biggest fear if I ever do get an interview/job will be leaving here for a class date, then have the class cancelled/postponed indefinitely. I've seen that happen quite a bit lately. I guess things will get better, but it's real hard to see it in this 1/4 mile vis. right now. Good luck and God bless everyone.

just becuase theres no hiring at a particular moment, in a particular sector, does not mean theres no more freight being moved. i would venture to guess most employers are reluctant to hire for the economy which means the current pilot force shoulders the load in the form of longer routes/trips/duty days, etc.

on the other hand, there is some movement going on, however slight. i know all three of the lower echelon 135 outfits in Dallas have hired approximately 15 pilots between them in the past 30 days. take that for what its worth, but there is movement...

...hang in there, as Shania says, "it can only go up from here" ;)
