It has been 3 years since I hung up my Marine Corps flight suit as a result of civilian misdemeanor. A Board of Inquiry (BOI consisted of 2 O-5's and 1 O-6) determined I was unfit to lead in spite of letters from squadron CO, XO, Group CO, XO, recommending retention. Needless to say I was devastated as I watched 7 years of hard work wiped away in an instant when the O-6 read the boards recommendation of separation under other than honorable conditions.

Time to move on. After some time flight instructing I got a Citation flying job. Currency isn't an issue and I’m building that valuable jet PIC time. Thankfull to have a flying job i guess.

The civilian offense has since been expunged but that OTH isn't going anywhere. I'm trying to find out if there are any other former military pilots out there in the Majors that have had to overcome an OTH discharge. I'd sure appreciate any success stories or even not so successful stories. Post here or PM me.

I'm debating paying for a 737 type rating in hopes of getting on with SWA. $7,100 is a lot to fork out if I won't even get a call for an interview.

The SWA app has some specific questions about military service.

Type of discharge, Art 15, court marshal, FEB, etc.

Obviously I’ll have to put down OTH, but a BOI isn't specifically listed so I answered that one NO.

For those that have experienced a SWA interview, did they ask much about prior military service?

Corporate flying has its benefits but I’m still interested in the majors.

Thanks for any and all comments.
