Hi again,

In our song "Silver Wings" the Captain says... we will soon be over the New Jersey Turnpike. Since our compilation is now available in the USA, we wish to make sure that the lyrics make sense.

see: http://www.911thealbum.com/silver_wings.htm for full lyrics

Here are the lyrics in question...

FO .... Captain, Captain,

There’s a noise at the back

I think I will go and investigate it

CAPT ..... Sure first officer

Do as you like

We will soon be over

The New Jersey Turnpike

Thanks and cheers Musicjet

It seems to be a point of reference for the whole state. The conversation usually is like this;

"Where you from?"
"Jersey."
"Jersey? What exit?"

Don't know if this helps.

Ditto on the exit thing above.

But the Jersey Turnpike wasn't really flown over by any of the 911 flights while in the hands of the airline pilots assigned to fly them.

2 767's from BOS west bound went west to about Albany, NY then turned south, basically down the Hudson to NY city. Maybe it should be "we'll be over the Hudson River soon" or "we'll be over the NY Thruway (route 87 and 90) soon".

Of the other 2 jets, both 757's, the one that hit the Pent. was from Dulles and didn't come anywhere near the NJ TP and was headed west so it wouldn't have gone over it anyway.

The UAL 757 that wound up in south east PA came from EWR. The NJ TP in the Newark Airport area is just east of the airport. The UAL 757 would have just passed or parralled the NJ TP (actually route 95 in that area) for a few seconds after takeoff from Newark but never crossed it or used it as a check point.
