Just wondering if anyone thinks that air inc is really that good to go to.

The only reason I am intrested is AWA will be there and that is where I want to go.

thanks for the input

If your only reason is to see AWA, you'd be better served to spend your energy finding someone to give you an internal rec letter. I saw AWA at 3 AirInc job fairs, thought I made a good impression, got the application in promptly, but no call. Lots of other folks getting called but the common thread is an internal letter.

Ask your "network" of family and friends if they know someone, and keep asking until you find someone. Sooner or later you'll find a link.

Good luck,
Catfish

I'm with you Skippy. Can't decide if I should to to PHX for AWA only. I have an internal letter so maybe I should save my $$. I have never been to an Air, Inc. thing but have heard it's not that great, all in all.

Air Inc is June 11-13 with big day on Sat. AWA has an open house on Sat from 8pm-10pm. I met them at the Atl conference and have since sent in an app and have an internal rec. I was thinking of going again just to let it be known that I am very interested and to see their training facility. It obviously can't hurt, except in my wallet!

The only thing you folks are missing here is the two main keys!! !

1st You need to get that application and we don't just mail out one to everyone who applies. Why it's done that way I have no idea but that's the fact.

2. You would be 99% better off with an internal letter, I say 99% as opposed to 100% because I just spoke with someone who got an interview without and internal rec!! It can happen though very rare.

I myself have never been to air inc so I don't know the cost layout but I do attend another pilot job fair every year. I will say this what ever the cost it's nickel & dime compared some who spend upward of 6k to get a shot at SWA.

Conclusion. Ask yourself one question. Just how bad do I want to fly for an airline and just what am I willing to do to get it??? Ok so that's two questions...

6k to get a shot at SWA

Wiskey Driver,

There is no charge for a shot at SWA. You only need the type if you are offered a job. Yes, people are interviewing and being offered jobs, even without the type. Also, all SWA growth will be with 737's flown by SWA pilots, no regional jets. Unfortunately, that is not the case at most other majors.

Regards,

juan

Juan,

No doubt!!!! My point was not to drop kick SWA but to point out the obvious that if you want it bad enough the price is no deterant!!! The regionals are going far beyond their original intention. I know that I have said this before and that the flame war shall begin with this statment but as a whole we really should drop mesa from our agreement for no other reason than the 737. I don't care who's colors they fly them under once you enter that realm you are now competition!!!! We should no longer look at them as the regional and left unchecked they will become our competiton and funded by us to compete!!!!! I say drop them the minute the first guppie leaves the ground with pax and do one of two things either bring in the regional flying inhouse (preferred) or give the flying to my old company AWAC!!! They not only would do a better job then mesa but also stay where they are needed and not try to fly mainline like equipment.

Nuff said!!!

Ok flame away but I can't say I'll respond. Kinda defeats the purpose!!!

okay thanks for all the input

All AWA pilots:
Is the meet and greet with tracy worth the wait/money/experiance.
I do have LOR but no app.
What Can I do to better my chances as an average applicant?

All Others about AIR INC:
If you wanted to get the above where would you go or how would you go about it?

Wisky driver is right on. If you want to work at AWA, why pass up any opportunity to improve your chances?

Ok Skippy 767, you have already answered your own question!!!
You have an LOR but no app!!! Pay the money, go it Air Inc get the app that you are missing return it along with your LOR and wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now as for the meet and greet with Tracy HE LL yes if you have Tracy in your corner YOU WILL GET CALLED!!!! I speak from experience so you take it for what it's worth...

Yeah it is a good idea to go

I believe the the resumes are placed in one of three piles.

1. those with an internal recommendation that accompanies the resume.

2. those that were hand delivered face to face at a job fair.

3. unsolicited.

At least this is what was spelled out to me by some paper work I received with my interview. So looking at that breakdown I'd say you can only improve your chances by showing up. If you can't afford it call your friend on the inside and have him/her bug the pilot recruiters (Tracy Takara). That may be the most effective way to get noticed...
Andy

P.S. I heard a rumor that there may be some time before they ship out their next bunch of app's. Hang in there...:D :D

thanks

I swear to all you guys on this board that the day I pass IOE I will be at a chueys and I'll buy you guys rounds on the new hire!!!!!

Thanks hope to see you guys online one day

This is exactly how its done according to Tammy K in HR.
For those that can get to the Air, inc. conference I would highly suggest it as WD and others have pointed out that it is a small investment for a possible huge return.

Tracy does a lot of the panel interviews so it could never hurt to meet her before getting in the room on your interview day.

A lot of my friends at my old company are asking about getting on here and I'm telling them to go to the conference and talk to Tracy and Tammy.

Good luck to all, hope to see ya on the line someday soon.

For the AWA drivers...

OK...now that I got the application, filled it out, sent the $50 "processing fee"...what's the next step? How long should I expect to wait to get a call for an interview and what should I be doing in the mean time to get ready? Thanks in advance for any replies.
