I was talking to a friend 'o mine at Comair that said they are get these a/c and training folks are rampin' up for training. Since I don't keep up with that many rumors, I thought I would ask here.
Um....no. I keep hearing they are going to Skyway. In fact, I was just reading in a local Cincinnati entertainment newspaper (CIN Weekly) that Skyway is recruiting for flight attendants to be based in the Cincinnati area. I guess that answers that...or so I think. Things seem to change on a daily basis so who knows.
A friend of mine just interviewed at Skyway for a pilot position. According to him, they're hiring into a pool in anticipation of getting the Delta contract. There was no talk of potential class dates, just that they were working under the assumption that they would get the planes. They're probably trying to get a pool of flight attendants, as well, hence the advertisement.
As for Comair, I interviewed there in early February and they told us they were sure they were going to get some of those RJs that Delta had out for bid. As we all know, those planes are going (for now) to ASA and Chautauqua. I didn't get the job (my fault) but if I did, I would still be waiting for a class date.
So if Skyway gets these airplanes....will that not grow the airline more than triple? How will that work? New hire Jet Captains? What are their fleet numbers now compared to the addition of 30+ new airplanes?
we just happened to have pilots on COLA for the past 3 or 4 months, so the staffing is possible here, Is this something that Delta considers for such an event, everyone knows that planes cannot sit around on the ramp.
..just a rumor, but an FO I flew with said he knew of someone at PSA, that said Comair FA's were in Dayton snooping around, even sitting on some PSA FA ground school, same airframe, hhhmmm, true or not...??
the contract says 45 days for a new aircraft announcement, that should be enough time to get some instructors checked out and the ground instructors tuned up??
I don't know where the airplanes are going--we'll just have to wait and see. However, if Skyway--a wholly-owned subsidiary of Midwest Express (or whatever the name is these days)--is permitted to operate in the DCI program, then Comair and ASA should be permitted to branch out and compete for contracts with other carriers in order to keep growing and diversify. The jets going to Skyway just really rubs me the wrong way (nothing personal against Skyway pilots, though).
Yeah.......DL says their pilots dont want us to fly them because, according to General Lee, they don't want to fund a competitor. Yet they are going to give them to Skyway which is owned by Midwest Airlines. Last time I checked the DC9s and 717s they operate were just as big as a 319.......so is the DL MEC gonna kill this as well?? Or are they going to try and say they don't compete with Midwest?????
