Okay, it works. But what is it?

It's not one of those new fangled things like an ipod, is it? High tech gizmology stuff?

(I saw one a few days ago while riding home courtesy of America West. The guy riding next to me had one as thin as a credit card, said it had a few thousand songs in it, and the battery lasted twelve hours...probably one of the most amazing things I ever saw).

Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Headset w/ an aftermarket microphone so that it can be used in the cockpit. Some of us fly in environments noiser than they should be.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I took a sound meter in the cockpit of my 4Y once, and it pegged out at idle on the ground. I took it outside and stood next to the runway while an F-16 went to afterburner for takeoff, and the F-16 was quieter than the inside of our cockpit with all four turning at idle...according to the meter. Interesting.

We used hand signals to communicate. The ICS would work at reduced power settings, not talking was virtually impossible during takeoff.

Probably noisier than it should have been.
