Hello,

... In order to compare with an Aviation program provided with another community college (TX), I'm looking for any feedback for those of you who have attended Iowa Lakes CC or Iowa Central. Tuition is very cheap and overall the flight lab fees are very attractive...

Here i shoot some questions:

1/ Join this kind of program is great but in Iowa, in the winter, do you fly a lot? (e.g spring semester)

2/ As a former student, what would you think of the quality of training?

3/ What about the aircraft availability?

4/ What's the CFI market afterwards training with local flightschool?

Thanks

I went to Iowa Central a couple years ago.

1) You actually do fly quite a bit in the winter. The only problem I ran into is if one of the freaking airplanes break down. Then, if you're on your commercial, you get to sit and wait for a month for it to get fixed. Or wait a month to get a checkride while Ralph is off cropdusting. However, the guys at school are all really good and a lot of fun. They'll help you however they can.

2) It was intense, but you don't graduate if you can't fly. I'd much rather fly with someone from the school of hard knocks than someone who got treated with kid gloves and smiley faces.

3) I never had a problem if the planes were all working.

4) They didn't have enough students to hire me, so I went elsewhere. I heard it's different now. But anyone that wants to stay in Webster City longer than they have to is probably nuts.

PM me if you need anything else.
