My buddy recently interviewed (March 26th) in a small pool of nine applicants, and all were informed by the company to expect the EMB - and to my surprise, many in the interview class had good amounts of jet time.

Interview Clarification

Sorry guys,

I meant for this thread to fall under the SkyWest Interview thread. But for clarification...someone asked about the recent SkyWest hiring situation. My buddy I mentioned earlier interviewed among 9...all were told to expect EMB-120...even with their turbine time.

It's all in how the need is at the exact time the applicants get hired. If there is a need for new hire jet pilots, then they get the class if they have the experience. If there is not a need, they go to the EMB.

Every now and then Skywest needs to fill a jet class and doesn't have enough current EMB pilots who want it so they'll throw a new hire in. They won't tag an applicant for a jet class and have him or her miss multiple EMB classes. It just creates more time and effort for the crew planners to do that. Furthermore, the new hire who could get bypassed waiting for a jet class just got bumped down 30, 60, or 90 on the seniority list.
