I don't want any flame bait, just want an honest answer from people who have experienced this in an interview. Thanks in advance.

Wondering how you would answer the question of, 'Ever broken a reg?' We all know everyone has done it. Just wondering how you approach it in an interview. Thanks again...

Fess up. Since they know we've all done it, saying never would be dishonest-unless you've never actually violated an FAR.

Say a reg you broke by accident... because no one breaks regs on purpose. Then take that accident and describe what happened, how you learned from it, what you did to stop it from happening again, etc.

Everyone breaks the sterile cockpit rule.

Say you have never done it knowingly, but perhaps have. Was I REALLY 2000 feet between the clouds?

You need to admit you are human without admitting you are a moron. Don't say "there is no way I have ever broken a reg" but sure as heck don't say "yeah, well, I had a beer and flew 6 hours later."

I would play up the never knowingly done it but may have bit. Tell them you strive to do right but we are all human. If you think you did, tell them how you would learn from it and prevent it from happening again.

A CFI I worked with was asked this question. He said NEVER. The interviewer thumbed through his logbook and happened to add up a days total - and it came up to 8.3 or something over the 8 hour limit. Busted! Needless to say he didn't get the job - anyway moral is fess up.
