At 22,000' how far should you stir clear of a thunderstorm? I think the answer is 20 miles(according to the AIM 7-1-26/27) but I would greatly appreciate confirmation. I know as much as possible isn't an option. Thanks.

watch out for them thunderstorms

I think that I have heard that also. 20 miles and 1000 feet above for every 10 knots of windspeed above the tops if you can clear them that is! But I don'yt know if it comes right out of the AIM?

Good luck!

yea right,

You got a lot more important questions to think about than this.

How far is far enough, as far as you freakin can, 20 is just a rule of thumb. You steer well clear if you can, if you can't hit the seat belt sign and slow down a little. Who is asking this as a interview question. One thing companies want to see is if you can think on your feet and if you have common sense. Study harder young grass hopper.
