Internships: What would you do?

SWA hires their interns as pilots after thier intern work is done?!?!?!
I knew the regionals did that, but didnt know the majors would.

Not as far as I know....it just helps you out later on...still gotta meet the requirements.

Did you intern at SWA?? I interned there in 2002 and would love to know how many former interns have gotten on. I only know of two that have interviewed and only one got hired. Thx

Ok, thats what I thought...you never know though.
The way I read the original thread was the kid was going to get a pilot slot right after his internship at a major airline.

No pilot slot after the internship...have to put in the time like the rest of us....it helps on the connection standpoint

Gotchya.
I worked for a regional that hired the interns right after their interniship was up. Some deserved it, and were good at it and made good pilots. Others were low life scum bags who I wouldnt piss on if they were on fire.
They only went for the internships just to get hired on with low times, not to be productive in the office or to learn anything on how an airline operates.....because hell, they already knew it all. The same guys couldnt show on time, missed trips, bitched about flying saying "I need that reserve period moved at the end of the month, I'm just flying too much" and only could talk about how much they could drink, and how many guys they can beat up at once.

Good luck on the internship, make the best of it.
