Ouestion on insurance requirements to PIC a light jet? Do the top companies (ARG/US etc) dictate the PIC and total time requirements as they do for Part 135 operations? Would appreciate some feed back on this subject in order to make a job move decision. I'm typed on a light biz jet on the east coast flying for a 135 company but don't have 1000 PIC yet. Can't upgrade for another 800 PIC because of ARG/US and Wymith requirements.

Insurance requirements vary greatly from what I've found but they usually won't preclude you from flying the plane if you're qualified(typed). I'm assuming you're looking at Pt 91 jobs and the PIC you have is in the jet, not total. Will this "job move" be in the same jet? If so you probably won't have a problem, depending on how much coverage the policy carries. Either way, if they had an issue with you they'd just require a high time captain in the right seat for a few hours. You can sometimes work with the insurance companies, though the premium may change.

Part 91, its whatever your employer and, most importantly, the insurance company dictate.

FWIW, I was an insurance-approved PIC on our Citation with 2500 total time, a type rating, and 50 hours in type.

I work with a part 91 department. When we last negotiated our insurance, one of the terms we requested was no named pilots on the policy. Any pilot who is typed in the aircraft and has been to school in the last 12 months can act as PIC.
