Just curious how much time on average yall devoted to studying during instrument through CFI, CFII, MEI. I'm gonna be trying to do flight training during the summer and fall while going to college full time/preparing for grad school. I know studying is different for everyone, but just wanted to get an idea how much time was spent--I don't want to bite off more than I can chew and don't want it to interfere with college classes.

Thanks,
LT

guess it depends on how well you understand/retain information. I found that studying a little on a regular basis was much more effective than trying to cram an entire oral guide book 1 week before a checkride.

I would say the instrument ride was the most in terms of studying (even more than the CFI). I studied for weeks prior to my checkride, although I was working full time as well, so my studying was anywhere from 1-3hrs/night, 3-4 nights per week prior to the ride.

Sounds like you plan is doable, but you will be studying alot, not to mention your grad school work in the fall. I'd try to get as much done over the summer as possible.

I earned all of my ratings this past year while finishing up college. I can't give you a specific # of hours spent studying but my classes haven't suffered because of it. I don't exactly go to a slacker school, either.

Took me 7 months to go Inst -> CFII and I studied pretty much anytime I wasn't in the air during the first 5-5 1/2 months...those last 1 1/2 - 2 months it was like pulling teeth to study...if I had to read about turbocharging or hypoxia one more time.
