Yes. Single engine approach to commercial standards. Unless they changed it in the last few years for some silly reason.

So I guess what confuses me is.. what if you were to get your commercial ticket before your instrument rating? Then technically you are only required do the single eng. instrument approach on your instrument multi ride. right?

Well since that makes sense, I'd say no...the regs/requirements usually don't make much sense so I tend to go the other way...but that's just me...:p

Hey Mini.. you may see three orange and white jets (T-45's) on the ground at DAB a week from sunday ;)

DAB? I wish I was headed down there a week from sunday...unfortunately, I'm going to be stuck in the flat wasteland of the US...er...Oklahoma..

because you can get your commercial without an instrument rating.. pointless (if you ask me), but you can do it.

Commercial PTS: Section 2, Multi-Engine. Area of Operation X: Multi-Engine Operations

NOTE: If the applicant is instrument rated, and has previously demonstrated instrument proficiency in a multiengine airplane or does not hold an instrument rating airplane, TASKs D and C need not be accomplished.

TASK C: Engine failure during flight (By reference to instruments)

Task D: Instrument Approach-One Engine Inoperative (By reference to instruments)
