Headed there for the first time next week. Just looking for general information from anyone who has been down there.

Thanks in advance.

MDPC/PUJ filed in Jepps under Higuey

VOR is PNA while NDB is PCA; as I recall both are named Punta Cana while VOR is used for IAP but NDB is used for MA holding(don’t confuse the two as they are not quite co-located)

Surrounding terrain is flat; runway is in good shape; controllers English is good but they use ICAO phraseology such as taxi to holding point of Runway 09 instead of taxi to Runway 09 and line up and wait rather than taxi into position and hold.

Airline parking spots(no gates) in front of terminal building on south side; GA parking to the west of that; limited fast food and drink in terminal; duty-free booze is more expensive than most of Caribbean; nice looking cathedral(?) about 10 miles west on final; expect clearance to fix(name escapes me) on final for straight-in to Rwy 09; nearest town is Higuey; most tourists go to all-inclusive resorts 5-10 miles east on the beach.

Pretty straight foreward. All VHF, MIA then Santodomingo, then PUJ. If your coming in at high alt. they have a tendancy to leave you there until you request lower. You will probably arrive over PIXAR W10 PNA. RWY 09 is the preferred runway and it is rough at least to me in the A320. If you want to, request direct POKEM for final to the VOR 09, this will relieve you from flying the arc and wasting gas. There is a papi in the left of 09. Wx is generally 2500 sctd so if you get down to 2 or 3000 you will have the airport at about POKEM. Have fun.

Now for the GOOD stuff

Punta Cana, is an exceptional place, the resort is owned by Oscar De La Renta, Da La Hoya, and Julio Eglasias. The beaches are great. European Flight attendents abound. private nude beaches OOOHH YYEEEAAHHH.
I mean you'll like there!!
