We are looking at possibly flying to points north, Saskatchewan this summer and looking for some info on the area. By what I have found, they have a 5800 ft gravel runway but have been told by the guy heading up there to go fishing that they paved the runway last year. I called the FBO and the woman wasn't very informed but did say that the runway is treated gravel. Does anybody know of a paved runway near there? We would be flying a Citation II.

Thanks

I think you might need to Google Saskatchewan airports and see that it is a pretty big province in Canada and has many airports. I used to play hockey up there have flown various size jets into Swift Current, Regina, and saskatoon just to name a few. You should have no problem finding a hard surfaced runway there. You'll have fun...
Good beer and wild women, always a good combination.

When you order your trip-kit, etc. from Jeppesen for the excursion you'll be able to sum up your situation a little better. We frequent Canada and just as hawkerjet stated, its a big chunk of real-estate up there. Gravel strips are not uncommon and neither are sub 4,000 ft. runways that are usually not suitable for the larger turbine bizjets, although your 550 might be able to operate off them. We mainly frequent Regina and La Ronge in SK. and it gets difficult picking an alternate when you get up around the La Ronge area (Prince Albert or Regina usually works). Of course, the seasoned Canadian pro's will tell you you haven't been remote until you get to Yellowknife, Whitehorse or even a little place called Churchill. Now thats a HIGH LONESOME! Good luck.

Any of you guys/gals know of much to do in Fort McMurry Alberta? Going up in a couple of weeks and wondering what will be the best way to waste time there.

Thanks for the info so far; I have been to several places in Saskatchewan but I am looking for info for around Points North SK near Wollaston Lake.

Blzr, I don't envy you. I usually find a silver lining even in the bleakest situations so here goes. Your options include drinking, checking out the oil sands, or a local club hockey team game. It will be warmer inside the ice rink this time of year. Make sure you bring some warm clothes.
