I am looking for information regardings this school. Would like to know if the school is or will be hiring flight instructors in the near future. What are some of the pro's/con's to working there? What are the requirements? Any info appreciated!.....Thanks

IFTA

I know a little about IFTA. I have a good friend who worked there, I applied there, and interviewed there (it wasn't hiring at the time). IFTA, aka Air Staff, Inc., is one of the best instructing gigs around. The place is a clone of Airline Training Center Arizona in Goodyear. No wonder - ANA had been sending its students to be trained at ATCA and decided to start up its own facilities.

Truly state-of-the-art facilities. I visited there ten years ago when the paint was barely dry. A36 Bonanzas and B58 Barons as equipment. Motivated students. Good pay and benies. Other nationalities besides Japanese are represented at IFTA. I know that Alitalia was sending students to IFTA for a while.

The place looks for experienced instructors, but that doesn't mean that you need 3549 hours of dual given to get hired. I know of people with far less than that who have worked there. The place trains ab initio airline students in the airline's way of flying, so the standardization will be strict. But it won't be impossible. From what I understand, nothing like the other Japanese airline school in Napa. :(

Perhaps the primary con would be . . . . Bakersfield.

From what I know about IFTA I would recommend it highly as a great place for an instructor to hang his/her helmet and goggles for at least a while, if not for the long term. I very well might have if things had taken a different direction for me.

Hope that helps a little.

I have also heard it is a great place to work.
As for Bakersfield, well at least the cost of living is cheaper than L.A.
Back when they were advertising a need for instructors, I recall their requirements were not too high(only about 2-300dual given.) I Know the conditions today favor airlines and flight -schools in the sense that they can get the most experienced right now. I will keep my eyes on the school as i'm told they are not hiring at the moment. Thanks for the info.
