Hi there,
I got my private licence last year and seeking IFR training.
Only problem that all school around DC area have the classes during the week, no w-ends and I can not attend due to working schedule.
Anybody can suggest an online course or other to get the ground part done?
All suggestions are greatly welcome.

The idea of having to go to an actual class for ground school is way outdated. You can do your IFR training under part 141 or 61 without having to actually attend a class. You can do either one on one with an instructor or some schools have self-study courses on CD-ROM that are FAA approved training methods. Options are endless. Classrooms are a thing of the past.

thanks for reply
any suggestions about those courses?
heard about the ASA On Top or Gleim's online courses
got any feedback?

Cessna Pilot Centers have a great Instrument CD-ROM course called "Cleared for Approach". If there are none in you're area you can get it from www.kingschools.com. Jeppessen has good stuff too, but it's by far the most boring to watch. I have no experience with ASA study materials.

I know American Flyers has an IFR ground school it is three days long, starts on Friday, ends on Sunday. Very good class, they run it once a month.

I would also consider the Sportys IFR Pilot DVD course(www.sportys.com/takeoff/ )..It is very informative and actually good viewing, tho I will admit, a couple of segments on weather were a tad bit boring..and the little quizzes that come up after most sections is a good learning tool as well..

Cheers
