Did anyone have to use the IACRA service through the FAA when renewing their CFI? Its been a while since ive had to renew mine and the time is coming up. I talked to a guy at the CLT FSDO, and he mentioned me getting back to him with a type of number I was not familiar with, maybe iacra was it?

Johnny, I'm confused, IACRA is a computer program that allows a DE or Inspector to fill out your 8710 (Airman Application) and print out a Temporary Certificate. What number would you possibly need? Unless I missed something in the IACRA class, I do not know of any number needed.

Sorry.... My suggestion is to go the the FSDO, get a paper copy of the 8710, fill it out and hand it to them with your documents or reason for renewal, and let them do the rest.

I hope this is a miss understanding between you and the Inspector on what you need for renewal. I would call back and ask the question again or ask for the OPS Supervisor.

P.M. me if you need more info.

OK for anyone who interested, you sign up for the IACRA program on the faa site, and it gives you an FTN number, username, and password. Then you log on, go through the menu, answer a bunch of questions, and the 8710 is automatically filled out for you. Then the FSDO guy signs it electronically. It was pretty slick. Either this program is fairly new, within 2 years, or im really out of the loop. Probably both.
