Ok so is anyone out there hiring into the Twin Beech, or into the 3 with a quick upgrade time to captain in the DC3. Oh yeah and I want to fly in the weather too, ice all winter and thunderstorms all summer. Well actually the location doesn't matter that much I just really want to go fly a real classic airplane while I am young and I have the ability to move around and not have to support a family. Any info at all would be helpfull.

fr8dog4life- try this joint, I don't know anthing about them but they do fly 3's.

http://www.sabercargo.com/

Their posted qualifactions(sic) are your basic 135 mins. they once had a posting on Climbto350, back when it was still free to view posts, the chief pilots name if Richie Lengel. On the climbto350 post back in July 2001, they said that starting pay is 14-cents per mile which should equal about $20,000/yr. The post also claimed that dc-3 capt. earn as much as $80,000/yr and that capt. could be made in as little as 4 months. Upgrade based n skill not seniority and there isn't really any over nights.

That's about all the info I have on them, hope that helped!

look up Catalina Flying Boats on yahoo. they fley be18 and dc3's out of long beach and riverside, ca. i think they have a very small turnover rate though and probably not hiring. i would love to fly for them. they fly cargo out to catalina (island about 20nm off of LA). lot's of IFR time no ice or t-storms though sorry.

I would love to fly either one of these airplanes. Look up Jim Hankins Air Service, he has several twin Beeches and the kind of weather your looking for in FLA and MS.

Fly a DC-3

Try Basler Turboprop conversions at OSH...they run recips and PT-6 conversions.

Call Miami Valley Aviation, I used to fly for them. They fly 5 DC-3s and 3 BE-18 and some Lear Jets and some Falcon 20's. You will want to contact Kevin Uppstrom he is the Chief Pilot. He is a great guy, just turned 40 and has over 10,000hrs in the DC-3. If he is unavailable talk to Jim Branam, he is the Director of Ops. He is also a great guy. Be presistent, and tell them that you wanna fly the 3, last guys that updraded did it in a bout a year. There number is 800-533-2800. They are located in Middletown, Ohio. It is 35 miles north of Cinncinati, Ohio and 25 mile South of Dayton, Ohio......Good Luck

thanks everyone for all info. What do you guys know about Midline Air Freight out of Springfield, KY. They operate a DC3, BE18, and a Cessna 310.
