Yeah I have to sort through all this. Will need a loan, tie-down, insurance. Would like to fly maybe 20 hours a month. Damn, that's probably $500 in fuel right there!!!!

I dont think there is any way. We have a plan at our school that is a 150 and it is $30 an hour. That is a 141 price, but I dont see how you can get much cheaper than that, and that includes fuel as well and 20 hours a month comes out to $600 - not to mention you will have to pay for tie-down and insurance.

20 hours a month a 6 gal/hr at $4.00 gal is $320, does not leave much over for insurance, tie-down, annuals, and aircraft payment. Then all you need is a surprise cyl replacement, or a nose strut rebuild and you are out nearly $1000.

I've done alot of research into owning a 150 or 152. Your looking at 18000 to 25000 for the purchace then about 500/month for tiedown/hangar (if your luckey to get a hangar for 100/month) insurance, gas, and MX. Thats at 10 flight hours per month.

If your going to finance the deal add another 250-300 for the loan.

My numbers are consevitave as it can be done for less maybe 300/month without loan payment but I'd plan 500 if I were you.

I plan on buying in about a year or 2

Depending on the engine but I know several C150 guys that use auto-gas with Marvel Mystery Oil and then every 2-3 top offs they toss in a few gallons of low-lead. Keeps fuel prices down.

Pvt pilot insurance is cheap as well $800- $1000 per yr. for the C150.

Don't know about tie down or hanger. A C150 Texas Tail-dragger is my dream because they're fun and cheap. Until then I'll have to settle for getting paid to fly other people's planes.
