I need to go to Shenzhen, China.. I know Mesa has service out there...

If I jump to Beijing, China on Continental would I be able to get from Beijing to Shenzhen on Mesa..???

I think it would be easier to take the ferry from Hong Kong. The ferry terminal is part of the airport complex in Hong Kong, and right next to the airport in Shenzen. I think it's about 150 HKD.

If you take the ferry form the airport to Fu Yong ferry terminal, which is next to SZX airport its 200 HKD. Its about 1 hour ride across. I hope you already have your Chinese Visa. By the way, in the HKG airport they take credit cards but in all the other ferry terminals its cash only, HKD or RMB is accepted.

Go to the VHHH airport website and look for the ferry svc and there is a sked in there somewhere. Since its stops running at about 7 pm be prepared to go to a hotel. I always used to miss the last ferry on the CX flight I normaly arrived on.

There is also a car svc from the airport. I believe its called Sky Limo. Its more of a headache than its worth and takes longer than the ferry.

As far as going to Bejing and then trying to j/s, I wouldn't do it. They are not familar with the j/s and technicaly its a Shenzhen Airlines airplane and not Mesa. If you had to, you could buy a ticket from PEK-SZX. Airlines in mainland aren't that expensive. I had to buy a walkup ticket for PEK-HKG and it was biz class and only set me back $500.

I don't have a Visa.. Once again I overlooked the most obvious.. According to the Immigration site it should around 4 days, oh well. I will have to go on my next 9 day off'''er, which will be never..!!

Thanks for the helpful info...

Another way without the visa wait is to take the ferry from HKG to Macao (no visa needed to enter Macao). Once you are in Macao, go to a visa place (lots and lots of them there) where they can do you a same-day visa for mainland China. It's cheap, something like $5 U.S. or so. Then you can take a bus up to Shenzen if you want. I seem to remember the visas you get from the agencies in Macao are good for 3-5 days or so in China. Good luck.

Have you ever tried this yourself..?
So I need to fly to HKG..?
Than the bus to Shenzen..
how long is the bus to SZ?

Yes, I used to do it all the time when I was in Macao for a month at a time. We would go to an agency so that we could get visas to go shopping for the day in Zhuhai, right across the Chinese border.

The bus to Shenzen varies depending on the traffic, but plan on about an hour to 1-1/2 hours or more.

Fly to HKG. Ferry boat to MFM. Bus to SZX. If you ask at any hotel in Macao they can tell you where to go to get a visa done. I would tell you to go to the one we went to, but it is impossible to describe the directions. I'd have to physically show you where it is. It's kind of across the street from San Ma Lo (Senado Square). A lot of the visa agencies seem to be run by Filippinos, as this one is. Good luck.

I would get your visa before leaving the states. One less hurdle to jump through. Personally, I avoid the buses in China and take either limos or taxi. Taking the water taxi is super easy and the terminal is right in the middle of the HKG airport. One side note. When you are ready to leave and go back to HKG, unless you already have a confirmed ticket outta HKG, you cannot use the feery to the airport. You must use the Kowloon ferry. That terminal is about a 20 min ride via taxi or train. Taxi being the easiest option but it runs about $25 USD. The train drops right in the HKG term but getting in it from Kowloon could be difficult if you have never been there before but its def the cheaper option.

Mushroom..Where you on the A-300 in MFM?
