I need the 411 on Avantair!

I am really considering Avantair. I have read several threads here and need some more info. On airlinepilotcentral.com there is a long list of gateways, but on the info hotline there was PBI, DFW, DEN, and a few more. How does this work? Also I have heard that upgrades are about a year. Do you see this continuing? What about stability? I work at ASA now and there is not much here so anything is better. How long does it take normally to get an interview? If you had it to do over would you still go to work for Avantair? I have heard there are a few ex Comair guys there what kind of time did you have?

If you get an interview I'd suggest you leave out the "I work for ASA now now and there is not much here so anything is better" banter. It would come off better if they thought you actually wanted to work here.

I'm not sure about that. I used that banter and was offered a job.

Its miles better than what I got at the regionals but that was 94/95. And the schedule is much better too.

I never worked for a regional, but I like Avantair thus far. I cant really think of anywhere else that better fits my lifestyle, but I live in DFW so being based at home is a huge plus for me.

Here in a couple of weeks the company is set to make a "big" announcement at NBAA. Depending on what they say, the announcement could help you make your decision on stability...

Oh yeah, upgrades are at about one year. Remember, upgrades are based on merit, NOT seniority. If you cant fly, you'll never upgrade. Thats a big change from some of the regionals.

Also, I think you will have your pick from any gateway listed except for florida. They seem to want you as far west as possible.

I'd like to tweak what you said about upgrades. They consider the whole package when looking at upgrades, including seniority. When your number comes up, they also look at: flying ability, recommendations from other Captains, ability to make decisions, how well you present yourself to our customers, how well you get along with your fellow pilots. Otherwise, I agree with everything you said. Avantair is the best fit for me out there and I really enjoy it here.
