Im a 900 hour pilot with 165 mult time. I dont have my cfi because i had a traffic watch job which ended in a halt in june in toledo. I flew over 500 hours in a year which bipassed my need to instruct. Whats the best way to find a job? Im not really looking togo to the regionals. Id rather fly frieght. Should i go door knocking? I have resumes everywhere, even the airlines. Does anyone know if any of the cargo companies hire low time guys below 135 mins in the detroit area? Much advice/leads would be helpful

I got an idea...

Hey before you sell yourself short.

(Maybe you wish cargo on yourself and look elsewhere first. And NO I am not taking a shot at Cargo pilots.)

Go or call FSI in Toledo. Ask to speak with one of the Instructors....etc.

Ask if they know of anyone looking for lower time pilots to fly with them in the area or near bye or the other side of the country.

Then walk yourself across the street to Cessna and ask around there too.

Oh, btw the KTOL airport has a few cargo operations on it too.

Those ideas might just help ya'.

Just a thought.

Yes...True...

Yes...True...but other operators operate in KTOL....yes?

Then walk over to the crew lounge and introduce yourself and make a few contacts...then maybe you'll find a job through one of their contacts or ideas. To only later use one of those contacts in KTOL to get employed with the DC-8 operator (or whoever).....see were this is headed....?

Give it a try. Stop asking and start doing.....okay.

It is easy...let me show you...."Hi I'm John Hancock, hey I was wondering if you might help me with a problem I have. I could really use a professional opinion on the matter. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated if you could be so kind."

See....just be yourself. You love flying. Now love making contacts. The two go hand in hand....get it?

Airnet has some good opportunuties in the Ohio, MI area if you are interested. Your time is just about right to get on as an SIC or once you get your ATP mins (basically 1200TT) you can be a prop captain. The progression now is 1 year in the props, one year in the right seat of a Lear 35, then LR35 PIC. I see it as a stepping stone to bypass the regionals. Its mainly night flying, but if you are interested in gaining great experience and developing captain judgement almost right off the bat as a prop captain then it's worth it. There are no base guarantees so you have to be willing to temporarilly move anywhere, but there is a high probability that you can move somewhere more suitable in 3-6 months. I think we have 1 DTW based prop, 2-3 LUK based 6-8 LCK. Like I say it's a stepping stone and nights can screw with the rest of your life, but it's probably the most fun youll ever have flying professionally. This is just one of many paths.

Good Luck

Maybe I was wrong about you chickenwolf....glad you could give your fellow pilot a good lead.

Nice job.
