How or why would anyone get thier CFII before the CFI?

Would the CFII check ride be any easier than the standard CFI?
 
If the person has a job lined up that only involves instrument instruction, they would probably do the CFII as the initial. It would be easier because there are fewer maneuvers to demonstrate. However, any initial application involves testing over the FOI, or fundamentals of instruction. That's really the hardest part of getting the instructor ratings, in my opinion.

At the flight school I used to work at we didn't have a complex single, but we had a twin.

People typically did their CFI-I, then their CFI-ME and then their CFI-A.

I had a few students do their CFI-ME first, that was a long checkride!
