I found out yesturday afternoon that the company is selling the plane. I have until March 31st.

I would just like to seek advice from those of you that have "been there" before.

In addition, if anyone has any job leads in Denver other than a greeter at Walmart I would appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Oh man, that sucks. I've been there before, but I was only flying a Saratoga at the time and they wanted a twin. I don't have any advice, just wishing best of luck!!

Good Luck!!!!
Lost my ride in Denver 3 years ago and had to move to find a job. There isn't much going on there from the people I talk to but you never know. A friend got lucky when his plane got sold recently and found a gig within a month or two but like I said he was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. Start making calls right away to everyone you know and knock on every door with your resume in hand.

Hey you got Lear type rating you should be able to find something pretty quick!! You look like you have some good quality time!

Good luck!!

If you have a full service contract with FSI, try and get one last recurrent. Then you can do some contract work, at least.

This seems to be the way things are going. My husband lost a job in July do to down sizing the flight department. Did a short stint filling in at a small wanna be charter outfit and drove a wrecker for his friends gas station. Then got a good gig with a charter managed outfit who got him a type rating, paid him for 3 months and let him go do to lack of airplanes. Weirdest thing we had ever seen. Here we are 6 months later no job. (May have been a contract issue with a sister company.)

He has been calling everyone he knows andmaking contacts on some possible
I've been scouring the job sites and give him the ones that might work.

planejobs.com
skyjobs.com
bizjetjobs.com

have been the most helpful. Skyjobs is the only free one.

I really hope things work out because it definately sucks!

It's always easier to find a job while you're still employed. Start using every contact you have. I agree with some_dude, try to get one more FSI reccurent before you leave.

Good Luck!

I have to thank you all for the advice and kind words. I was surprised to see the replies. I have even received several PM's. I really appreciate it. Thanks again.

Best of luck

Try internationaljet.com. IJAS appears to be based in Englewood and is showing an immediate opening for SIC on the website. You should be pretty competitive. Hang in there and good luck.

You might try going to the FAA website and searching for registered aircraft in your area. Many times you can find an operator that has an aircraft you have flown that you didn't know about. It takes some patients and a lot of digging, but in your situation you have to be that determined.

Finding the next job isn't luck. Get your resume out to everyone that has ever heard of an airplane. Then you should follow up. Follow up. Follow up. I've gotten two jobs because I was the ONLY ONE TO FOLLOW UP. So....follow up! Did I mention you should follow up? Cause you should follow up. Ok, that was annoying, but I had to make the point. So many people just don't understand the importance of following up. It isn't about being the most qualified candidate (which you may be) it is about being the easiest to hire. Finding qualified pilots is hard enough, if a good pilot keeps calling or walking into the office that pilot will get hired.

My last piece of advice, don't pay for a job search engine. There are a ton of free engines out there and most of the jobs on the pay sites came directly from the free sites.

Work hard, the next job may be even better.

PS....FOLLOW UP!

Join climbto350.com. it seems to be one of the most active job sites. If you do contract work, always charge the standard daily rates, dont sell yourself cheap.

Hiring I've heard is going to be at least 4/mo. They seem to hire a even cut of everybody, furloughed, military and corporate. Benefits are the best I've ever seen and the first year pay is one of the highest in the industry (although a cut from flying as a corporate capt.) Also 2nd year pay is more than I've ever made in corporate expect between $75-100/yr. Also a shedule. Averaging 2 weeks off a month. Good luck. Alot of former corp guys here. Also just to add the ages in my class and others: 55-30yrs old, in case your wondering.

I dont if there is a actuall mins but there have been guys all over the map: from regional tuboprop capt to hvy military. flight times seem to be from 3500
or 4000+.

File For Unemployment!!

No one has mentioned this and it is simple to do...File for unemployment over the internet. You have put your tax dollars into this fund so use it to your advantage. I have been there and done that. Takes less than an hour to file and the sooner you do it the sooner you can collect. It averages about $275.00 a week which is better than nothing. Becareful though if you are able to fly a day or two of contract work while you are collecting unemployment. All you have to do that week is answer YES to the question if you were able to work that week. You will not get paid that week but you can continue to collect the following week if you do not work the follwoing week.

Good Luck looking for that ultimate flying gig. Most will agree with me, sometimes a firing or closing of a flight department is the best thing to have happen to yourself. It has happened to me and motivated me to find a superior job compared to the previous employment.
