Just a quick hypothetical question for you jetblue folks out there:

Any chance that jetblue would ever utilize a regional feeder operation at either JFK or LGB?? Is there even a need for such an operation given your business plan?

What about a codeshare operation with another low cost airline?

Just curious......
 
The quick answer is "NO". According to our President of Operations, a regional feeder for us is not in our interest as a low cost carrier. You wouldn't be able to charge enough to turn a profit. On our short routes in upstate NY and shuttles on the West Coast-- many of our 162 seats are filled. Our operation is already cost effective enough to support just "mainline"
flying. Another reason is company driven. It would be difficult to continue to deliver the cultural "JetBlue experience" under different code-shares or regionals. Finally, JetBlue believes that bringing on a partner exudes many liablilities-- ie lost baggage, missed connections, etc. I believe Southwest has done quite well without bringing on partners-- JetBlue follows in SWA footsteps very closely...

Yes! Do a search for jetBlue on this site. It'll come back with more info than you thought to ask. Several posts have been made for F/O and Captain pay rates, contract inclusions, stock options, plane deliveries, seniority of our bases, etc. Lots of good interview gouge on this site too.
 
I wish I knew. I had to abandon the mighty J-32 to get a shot at it. It's just another example of how flying 19 seaters is a form of airline purgatory.
