I am looking for info on the commute from Seattle to Memphis. It appears there is only 1 non-stop a day on NW and 3 flights a day on FedEx aircraft. A FedEx employee told me that the FedEx DC-10's only have 4 jump seats each and that Seattle was a highly popular city for FedEx pilots (i.e. lots of competition for the seats). I'd appreciate any insight on how the FedEx bubbas get from SEA to MEM, or if there are many deadhead trips that start close to SEA. Thanks

Not only is it a long commute, but I'm sure more than a few NWA guys who live in MEM commute to the 330 base in SEA.

Its a tough citypair.

To keep the thread going:
Any words on the city pairing of Boston to Memphis on Fedex? They have a couple of direct flights a day, but how is the competition for those seats?

The NW direct is only a seasonal service at best.
However, if you are willing to go through MSP your chances increase tenfold.

try PDX

A FedEx bud of mine has jumped on the FedEx flight from Portland to Memphis. Not sure of the time(s)...

Horizon goes to PDX from SEA every 30 minutes or so.

As do the number of commuters.

AA:rolleyes:

Balut,

I checked the jumpseat schedule for a few random days this week and next week. I didn't see any days where there were no jumpseats. There might not be PM seats and you would have to go early AM, but you could always get there. The further out I checked, the better the availability got.

There were a few days where there weren't any seats to ANC, which may or may not be a factor for you.

Good luck and welcome to the team.
