I'm a flight instructor in the MKE area and I'm really interested in flying the corporate side of aviation. Besides just building time do you guys have any advice to getting my foot in somewhere and what kind of times do most people look for before I can get in the right seat? Thanks
I got in with 550TT. Granted it's not "true" corp (aircraft management, though very little 135...only 4 charter trips in 2005 for me), it's a great way to get your foot in the door and network on the road.
How's the clientele at your flight school? When I was a CFI, the school I instructed at had the best equipment (and highest prices) in the area. As a result we had a lot of CEO's and other F500 types for customers. Several of my students owned corporate jets. It was a GREAT networking environment and led to numerous job offers.
It's all about networking. Your experience level comes into play somewhat, but if you meet the right person, and they like you, they will do whatever it takes to hire you.
If you're in the MKE area, you may want to look into ACC. Granted it isn't the exact line of work you're looking for, but at least while you continue to look, you will be building multi-turbine time instead of doing steep turns and stalls everyday. Probably make you more attractive to the companies that you'd like to work for.
Hey guys, thanks for the help. My clientele hear are mixed. But none for any fortune 500s. Flying Illini, where did you get in with 550TT? How much ME did you have. Right now I have 625TT and 55ME, so I know i'm a little low for most, just trying to figure everything out. I'm taking my resume to ACC tomorrow to see what they have to say.
