I recently had a friend at SkyWest that handed my resume directly to Camielle, and a couple other SkyWest pilots sending emails to her as well.

Is there any other suggestions to get the interview? Call her or anyone else that has the say so for interviews, send an email/letter, show up in person to St. George or Salt Lake??? I still have lower than competitive mins (1600tt 200+me) so I need an extra eye grabber or two, I am sure I am not the only one.

Please give your stories/suggestions so all can benefit and attempt it if they have not allready.

Thanks ahead of time

Camielle's assistant told me last week that they have so many resume's on file its crazy. Don't show up in SGU or SLC. your on the right rack with your buddies helping you out. dont pester her and be patient with your friends continuing to help you out and your time will come. My friend interviewed with 1200 and 125 a month or so ago. hang in there and see what happens. PM me if i can help any more.

Andy Neill??

Where are you bro???

I think it was a MAJOR mistake to publish that number on a public forum like this and I would advise all who read this NOT to contact anyone at the company without being told to directly by a current employee who was told to pass on the message.

Unfortunately, now that extension will receive about 400 calls a day and I assume anyone who does call will be lumped into a "bothered us unnecessarily, so do not call" list.

Be patient, have your friends walk in a resume.

For what it's worth:

I just got called for an interview with SkyWest and it took almost two months and an update after my friend/SKW pilot walked it in. He even had lunch with Camielle and watched her call one of the recruiters to tell her about me. BTW, I have 2600+TT/900 ME with 135 experience. A CFI friend of mine with half the time had his walked in in December and got a call in March. He's now in class.

The point is that you have to be patient. Update through the regular chanels but I would resist calling them.

Just do what I did and call the number. Tell the lady you want to speak to the HR department. They put me right through. The girl said to send my resume' and she'd be looking for it. Called to interview three days later.

Turned them down cuz I don't want to live in Salt Lake after visiting the place. Pretty in a touristy kind of way, but I didn't think I'd handle living there for long.

You must not have been very observant when you interviewed since we have about 14 bases right now. yeah, Santa Barbara, Denver, San Diego, Chicago, ...those places aren't liveable. Good choice to turn them down...

By the way, just a hunch, but I would think that Camielle is not going to be happy when she checks her voicemail and has about 250 messages tomorrow. she doesn't seem to be the type of person to fall for this kind of stuff. I personally like the one guy who had his name skywritten above the SWA hQ last week. Good touch.

SkyWest,

717's are not on the way and SAPA doesn't negotiate with United on what aircraft SkyWest will be getting. That's up to United and SkyWest. Even if SkyWest were to get 717's I don't think I would be too excited about being some of the lowest paid Boeing drivers in the country with no retirement. (a 401(k) is not a retirement) And I also think it was highly inappropriate to put Camille's extension as well as the company number on this forum. I would edit that post and get it off of here. SkyWest would not want that on here. I agree there is nothing wrong with being assertive but you can be too pushy. If your resume is good, they will call.

regionalwannabee,

most hired this year had their stuff walked in. my friend interviewed a month ago with 8 others that all had their stuff walked in. seems to be how its going at the time because they can be picky with so many resumes on file. be patient with your friends checking up for you. your in a pretty decent spot right now honestly. good luck, you just never know. i would advice to be as prepared as possible for the interview if you are called.

None of which are even remotely commutable from where I live. You couldn't pay me enough to live in California or Chicago...

Nope. I'll stay put until I get a good offer. If I had been given the 120 in Houston I'd have jumped on that in a heartbeat, but my Social Security Number screwed me out of that.

SkyWest will continue to grow, we are taking on CRJ-700s, who knows, maybe the 717s are on the way...as soon as SAPA negotiate to loosen UAL's "scope" clause. I believe the day of us flying equipment over 100 seats are very near. UAL needs us to operate these routes that they are currently losing money with Guppies. Hence the B717 will be the answer.

You're a tool. I'm sure SAPA has a lot to do with negotiations on scope waivers at UAL.

Management has some big plans, we will not stop with just 70-seaters.

Come fly the friendly "express" skies.

Cheers

Glad you're so thrilled about our profession going into the toliet. But hey at least the company will grow! Management saves.

Wow, for once I actually agree with nimitz on this one... SkyWest, you really sound pretty much clueless. SAPA loosening UALs scope clause? So SAPA has more suck than ALPA at UAL??? Please, spare me.

Also, 'splain to me how the B717 is the answer, cheaper than operating a Guppy. Compared to a 737-500, the airframe size/pax count is roughly the same. Both have high bypass, fuel efficient engines, so you lose that argument compared to the JT-8Ds on an old 737-200... the only way the 717 is gonna be cheaper to operate is on crew costs. So you're proud of the fact that you think y'all can fly a ship comparable to a mainline Guppy for less $$... coming straight out of your wallet with SKWs lower pay scales... amazing. Like nimitz said, you're a tool.

Ya gotta be proactive in this field. sitting around waiting for yer buddies to do the work ain't gonna cut it.

I wanted to get some opinions and suggestions on how to go about this the right way, since every company might have a little different way of accepting resumes and scheduling interviews. I was not sure if calling certain people might put your resume in the round filling can. Other companies that I have been interested I checked out what they like and tried it out, for example I was very interested in Horizon and heard that showing up in person knocking on doors has worked wonders for some, so I did just that, and meet a great contact that sits on the interview board. Since Horizon stopped interviews probably for the year, I now am setting my sights on SkyWest, which looking into it might be the better fit for myself and family anyway.
Thanks for the input

SAPA has more power than you think. Look at all the cool beenies that we have.

You're trying to tell me that the 737-500 is as efficient as the B717?? You must be smoking some wacky tabaccie..

SkyWest is where it's at.

Ohh, now I get it... you're just trolling, looking to stir sh!t up. Moron.

Seriously, compare the 737-500 to the 717. Seat count pretty close to the same. Weights very similar. Engine thrust ratings pretty close, -500 has approx 3,000 lbs more. Specific fuel consumption numbers close to the same; from what I can determine with a few minutes research is that the fuel burn on the 717 might be a few hundred pounds per hour less. Looks to me like the only real cost saving is you willing to fly it for a lot less than mainline UAL.

Tool.

When did SkyWest pilots get to start wearing beenies with the uniform? I must have missed that memo. Now that the uniform hats are optional, if one chooses to wear a hat...a beenie is the way to go. :D

He's definitely trolling...nobody that works at SkyWest actually thinks that SAPA can negotiate with UAL about scope clauses. And the B717 isn't on the way. I certainly don't want to fly them, unless a realistic pay scale is presented. I also don't want to fly them with DAL or UAL paint on them. That's flying that the mainline should be doing. SkyWest is a great company, but I wouldn't say that it's "where it's at"...whatever that means.

I'm pretty sure that SkyWest (the Flightinfo guy) is an embarrassment to all other SkyWest pilots.
