I want to make this clear........I am not knocking any comair pilot whatsoever with this post.....Comair is an awesome airline that I would love to work for and I have a ton of friends that work there.

Here's the question.....many of the people that have have given reasons on previous posts about going to comair v. othe carriers all claim that they are more stable than CHQ, Coex, etc. How EXACTLY are they more stable? Also, this obviously is NOT a stable industry so how can so many pilots at Comair that post there thoughts and ideas here be so sure that comair is and will contine to be 'a stable airline job for years to come'.

The reason I ask is that on many of the posts, most of the Comair pilots are talking about how great the long term stability of the airline is and all I can think is that if I had been hired at UAL in 1999 I would have been convinced I got on with a Stable airline for my career.

Thanks to all those that answer and I want to make it clear again that this is for my informational purposes only.
Thanks
IB

Stable!#$%^, My $.02

No airline is "stable" no matter where you are at something unforeseen can happen, financing falls through, terrorists, economy, etc. My personal opinion is that a regional is even more unstable because of the relationship with a major carrier calling the shots. I am at an United Express carrier and we have had to bend over farther for UAL because of bankruptcy.... there are no guarantees! go where you think you can get the quality of life, money, or flight time that is important to you and your family! If you have friends at Comair use them as a resource to find out how QOL really is. If you are considering other airlines try to talk to people there to find out the real story, and take anyone's opinion of "stable" with a big grain of salt. Slave

There is no such thing as long term stability in the "feed" or "subcontract" business. You can be a wholly owned one day and a independent the next. Long term in this industry is 11 years at the most, it's really just luck of the draw.
