Is it true you can be 6 months short of your degree and still apply for upt slot? Is there some kind of form I need to fill out?

Guido...

I know that you can apply for a slot if you are "close" to getting a degree. However, I do not know how the word "close" is defined. 6 months sounds about right, but I could be totally off. I think you need to talk to a recruiter about this.

At my guard unit...you have to have 90 credits to go to OTS, UPT. They will review your packet which includes your transcript...if the rest of it looks good, they usually have no problem giving you an interview. (Age is usually an issue ie. if you're 20 yrs old they'll tell you to come back in a few years.) After that, it's not really an issue. If you are selected, you have to request to the board a education waiver which they will give you since they just hired you.

Been there, done that

believe it!

The good old days...

...back when you only needed 90 credits to go to AMS/UPT (ANG Only). I knew a guy that flew F-4s, transitioned to the C-130, finished college by 25 and was hired by American.

For Active Duty, 1 year from graduation (Form 1413--Anticipated Graduation Form--from the college showing classes remaining/scheduled to basically show that you're on track to graduate within next year). Your Active Duty recruiters have the forms you'll need. Highly competitive! Flying time helps alot, but a solid GPA (preferably in a technical major) is also key. Study hard for AFOQT (AF Officer Qualifying Test, study guides possibly at local library and/or Barnes and Noble)...Call 1-800-423-USAF, or www.airforce.com, "contact us", recruiter locator.

The process includes 3-5 letters of recommendation, formatted resume, official transcripts, physical, AFOQT, BAT test, Interview with an AF Officer.
