How many legs do you guys usually work per day? Is it different depending on AC?

It varies week by week. here is my last weeks number of flights per day.

Day 1. 1 airline , 1 repo flight, 1 pax flight
Day 2. 1 pax flight. (east coast)
Day 3. 1 pax, 1 repo. ( Transcon)
Day 4. 1 pax. (transcon)
Day 5. 1 pax. ( transcon)
Day 6. 1 pax. 1 repo. (west coast)
Day 7. 1 pax. 1 repo. 1 airline.

11 flights in 7 days. + 2 airlines. This is by far my slowest week.
This on the X.

The most legs in one day so far on the XL was 7 and it was a 9.2 hour day. Started out on the southern tip of FL and ended up in San Jose. The norm is 4, unless you get caught doing the NE shuffle then its normally 5. Last day is typically 2 to 3 legs before airlining home.

2-3 legs/day. 5 is rare and ends up being a 13.5+ hr day. I'm lucky if I get more legs than days in the week. Lots of hot spare. Rarely anything other than airline home the last day. Obviously I'm not on the X or XL and don't live on the East Coast.

I've had days of anywhere from 0 to 8 legs in the 560 fleet. If I had to guess at an average, I'd say about 4 legs on a typical mid-tour day. But as others are saying, it depends: you might sit hot reserve or spare or even be at a service center and not fly at all. And I've had a few days where I just sat in a hotel because they had no one to partner me with but that's a rare occurence.

The H400 XP....some days nothing due to MX or perf limitations. Others 5 legs over 13 hrs. Seems to be one of those two all the time.

My last tour in the Encore was 25.1 hours and 19 legs with several 13+ hour days. And that was a six day tour. Then again it is getting to be high season so you can expect that we will all work more. In the summer the average seems to be 2-3 legs per day, in winter its more like 3-5.

Whats the difference between Jeffrey Dahmer and a NetJets pilot?

Jeffrey Dahmer didn't eat every leg!!

Last tour
day 1 ferry
day 2 ferry
day 3 ferry pax pax ferry
day 4 pax ferry
day 5 12 hours of hot spare
day 6 ferry
day 7 ferry ferry pax ferry

total 9 ferry 4 pax

Last Tour...

DAY 1: Airline 1 leg on AA.

DAY 2: Flew one leg empty.

DAY 3: Flew 2 empty legs, 2 owner legs and BROKE

DAY 4: Sat around the hotel waiting for rig repair.

DAY 5: Flew 1 empty leg and 2 owner legs.

DAY 6: Flew 1 empty leg and 2 owner legs.

DAY 7: Flew 1 empty leg then 1 owner leg then 1 ferry leg and BROKE.

Stayed out to get some extra cash...

DAY 8: Limo'd to an airport. Airlined to another airport for a trip the next day. Airline flight was delayed, got in too late, trip given away.

DAY 9: Airlined home. Home by 12 noon.

Good lord. And they wonder why they are hemorrhaging cash.

6 day tour, day 6 was an extended day (Hard Day Off I voluntered to work):

Day 1: Airline 1 leg, ferry 1 leg then break 1 hour before pax show up.
Day 2: Hotel Standby waiting for jet to be fixed.
Day 3: ferry, 2 pax legs (same pax), ferry. Trying to ignore mx problem related to day 1.
Day 4: fly pax leg, supposed to ferry for more pax legs but can no longer ignore mx problem. Ferry to Service Center.
Day 5: Hotel Standby. Late in day Captain is used to crew a different jet.
Day 6: broke jet, no Captain. Drive rental car home, in the door by 1pm. (Cha-Ching!)

Is this typical? I can see how this is great ("Cha-Ching!") for the union, but it just doesn't seem healthy for the company over the long term, 3 pax legs in 6 days.

The "Cha-Ching" was for making over $330 (extended day) and all I did was drive home.

No, this isn't typical and will vary by fleet. That was my last tour. I'm currently in the hotel after day 3 of this current tour:

Day 1: Airline and fly 3 pax legs (same pax dropping off at different stops)
Day 2: Ferry, pax
Day 3: Ferry, pax

I've flown 9.1 hours in 3 days vs. 8.1 hours my entire last tour. So far my MX jinx hasn't come back. I switched from the Ultra to the Encore and this is my 3rd Encore tour. I did 16.9 in 7 days on tour 1 and that was with breaking the jet and airlining to get another one. This last tour with 8.1 was unusual. My Captain's last 7 day tour had over 30 hours of flying. My personal record high was 29 hours on an Ultra tour and my record low was zero flying in 7 days due to only having a Captain 2 days out of 7 and a MX problem taxiing out.

Jets like the Citation X will do a lot more hours because of all the trans-con they do.
