20 ish

but then again its when you are ready. ive seen people solo at 9 (part61)
and some as high as in the 30's. just depends if you are ready or not

good luck

This solely depends on the individual and how well he does early on and also how consistent he is, no average is really applicable here. The time from zero to first solo will vary from student to student. I have seen student pilots solo in as little as 8 hours while some have taken as many as 30 hours. Don't get to caught up on this issue, it really means very little in the grand scheme of things.

My instructor signed me off in the -150 after 9 hours, which was kinda surprising. I declined because I wasn't happy with my approach/landing stuff at the time...... Hoping to iron out some kinks and give it a shot later this week. In the grand scheme I don't think it matters much, although I think my confidence will get a boost after the first solo.

i dont know how much confdence boost it will get ya in a fity-duece but its definatly an exciting time.

just like losing your virginity

your scared and anxious at the begginnig, not knowing what to do, then you get into it and it feels good, then next thing you know its all over

Why don't you tell him to ask his instructor...

If you havent soloed by 10 hours, you're probably not gonna make it as a pilot .....(sarcasm)...

Watch out for those that wear their low solo time as a badge of honor.

took me about 30 some hours before I got it right, could do perfect " pointers " but they wanted the nose wheel up lol
