I am thinking about getting a type rating course. I am a Green Card holder and will need to go through the DHS' clearence process. Does anyone know how long does it take ? Is it a month? 3 months?

If it's longer than a month I may actually get it in Europe..

Thanks..

I just sent one of our pilots through the process. The TSA/DOJ just changed the process this week. They now submit your passport # and FAA License # electronically and you should have the results back in 2-4 days. Much better than the old system that took 3-8 weeks!

Fingerprints

Unless you have to send fingerprints (for first TSA application) that will take a few days longer and then a thirty (30) day adjudication period for Category I (Over 12,500 lbs) starts. However in my case I got approval only three days after the fingerprints had been received.
