I am starting class on Monday and really looking forward to it. I was hoping to get some feedback on how the training on the Citation X is?? I have never been through a FSI class and I would like to know how they are. Thanks!

You doing the aircraft training first or indoc first?

Indoc....2 weeks. There "might" be a copy of the test floating around somewhere. Basic stuff. Lots of breaks...."lets take a break" is like a memory item there. The hotel that they put you up in will provide a "hot" breakfast buffet. Lunch places across the street...either walk or drive. Hotel for a hot dinner buffet.

Aircraft training....4-5 weeks. FSI invented the memory item...."lets take a break". Donuts every morning.....look at all the instructors....big boys. Ground school is fast paced, but a lot of "table knocking". (this might be on the test). Sim is straight forward. ....Your on the X, the FMS was my toughest thing....not like the airbus or the CRJ. Oral and checkride very straight forward.....unlike ACA.

have fun.

welcome into the group....I dont know anything about X......but indoc was fun.....someone in your class will "Know" all the answers to the test.....

and that guy will seem to know all the answers just as the instructor leaves for coffee.......amazing.

You'll also probably have a couple of pilots that have been with the company a while and are moving planes. They will fill you in on everything you need to know about the company.

Enjoy and don't eat to much.

Please excuse my ignorance but do you guys feel that NetJets is a good place to stick it out until retirement?

Or are most of you there just to wait for some other opportunity to pop up?

thanks

Not having done any types of surveys of our pilot group I will say that the overwhelming majority of our pilots feel that NJA is a place where oyu can hang your hat.

We have a fairly large population or retired airline, furloughed airline and retired military guys who really can't go anywhere else do to age issues and still make what they are making now with the benefits they are currently getting.

Its not that bad of a deal.

HOLY CRAP WE"RE GETTING HATS

I think the majority of pilots are staying here for their career. A lot of guys just turned down a couple of carriers that called back and other carriers that are hiring.

S&S, welcome to the 1108 extended family! Good luck in training! Please feel free to share your feedback with the UTC (union training committee). They are working hard to improve the quality of training for the NJ pilots and welcome input from the group.

I know my husband will pass on the hat..:D but does consider NJ to be a career position and not just a stepping stone. With the new CBA, we are now able to afford for him to stay at the job he enjoys. While certainly important, money isn't the only issue. The job offers more variety than many others in aviation, the 7&7 provides more continuity in one's personal life, and the frac industry by nature of its more financially secure clients is less vulnerable to economic downturns and security scares. All good reasons to stay.
