Exactly. He let you have some fun while risking his own certificate. Not too bright IMHO, but what's done is done, hypothetically.

some part 135 operators do not allow pasengers up front and no one is allow to take the controls unless otherwise have been put on the certificate to operate the aircraft and the pilot could lose his employment for allowing it to happen

Simply put, it was illegal.

The flight must have been flown under part 135 if you paid for a ticket, even if you were the only ones on it.

Under the FAR's it states:


§ 135.115 Manipulation of controls.

No pilot in command may allow any person to manipulate the flight controls of an aircraft during flight conducted under this part, nor may any person manipulate the controls during such flight unless that person is—

(a) A pilot employed by the certificate holder and qualified in the aircraft; or

(b) An authorized safety representative of the Administrator who has the permission of the pilot in command, is qualified in the aircraft, and is checking flight operations.


My word of advice to you is: be very, very careful who you talk to about this. Not only could the pilot get his certificate yanked, but the airline could be fined or shut down, and you might be in trouble yourself since you are a certificated airman too.
