I am attempting a career change (well actually retiring from the FD) within the next year and a half with the hope of pursuing a flying career.

I currently have 2200 hours TT (700 hours fixed wing) with my Commercial, SEL, MEL Instrument & CFI ratings. I also have my Aircraft Dispatchers license as well.

I am looking to build additional time here in the Houston area.

I would like to find some cargo operators in the Houston area that might be looking for someone on an as needed basis. I would even be willing to fly right seat as a safety pilot or extra set of eyes for free.

If anyone has any knowledge of operators in the Houston area I would appreciate your assistance.

Try American Jet International out of Hobby. I believe they have a variety of jets and turbo-props.

If you just want to build more time and instruct part-time then try MVP up at Wieser airpark. They like to hire older CFIs because they feel they are less career driven and more mature. The owners have been hard to get along with sometimes but that place is hopping on weekends and great for a part-time job. Just dont let the owners get to you. I knew a few part timers flying up to 40 hours a month. At this point, time is time and a day without flying is a day wasted if you want to go onto better things. They also have a part 135 baron. Don't know much about it though. It was after my time. I got 900 hours working full time at that place in one year.
