Excelsior downtown is good, but if you want to be a bit outside of town, try the Grand Hotel Baia Verde, up near Aci Castello and on the water(I forget the exact name of the town it's in, but it's a dandy hotel with GREAT restaurants nearby) and if you get room 222 be sure to watch out for my pecker tracks from eight years ago.

Try the Hotel La Veccia, small but nice and near everything.

Also, up the block from the Baia Verde (which is in Acirealli sp?) is the Sheraton, which is also quite nice.

Ah, bella Sicilia! Lived there for 2.5 yrs, Mt Etna in my avatar. All good gouge above, but I'd go with the Sheraton. If you have the time, make sure you make the drive up to Taromina, its about an hour or so. It's hard to get bad pizza anywhere in Italy (lived in Naples also) but the absolute best was in Taromina at the end of a small via from the main street. I think it was called Da Pepe's, but I'll have to ask my wife when she wakes up. Enjoy the trip!

TC, I was only in Sicily with the military. We sometimes stayed at the Sigonella Inn. I can hear the other mil guys chortling now, but I thought it was nice. It's a contract hotel for military, but there were some civilians staying there too. The swim up bar was a crowning touch for a crew on the way to Saudi Arabia for a month!

Sicily is beautiful.

The Sig Inn is convient to NAS I, which is about 15 min from NAS II (the "working base" of Sigonella (LICZ). If you are flying into Catania (LICC), stay at the Sheraton.
