Can anyone tell me about the Frasca 142 sim that Horizon uses? Does it have RMI or the hand-turned, old-fashioned NDB?

many thanks!!

what the hell is a hand turned NDB?? You talking about turning the loop?

i think hes talking about a fixed card ADF that you can move using a nob. Its not slaved to anything and stays stationary until you twist the knob.

If you have an interview there I HIGHLY recommend you get some prep in the Frasca. There is a place above the aviators store at Boeing Field that gives you a gouge and some Frasca time. Speny, but if you want the job....

Good Luck!

I know what he was talking about... He has an atp and 3000 hours and is worying about that? lol.

I'll tell you

We use a frasca 142 with a dual needle RMI. Last time I flew it the light for the decimal point in the DME readout was burnt out. Do you have an interview coming up? Even though I've told people this time and time again they still screw up the sim and don't get hired. THIS FRASCA BOX IS VERY SENSTITVE AND YOU'D BETTER BE READY FOR IT IF YOU WANT TO WORK HERE. There, I've said my 2 cents.

Was supposed to be in whatever sim (not a Frasca) SkyWest normally uses for an interview earlier this year-I even spent some money to go down the street and get some time in the exact machine as per the various gouges I had read. Lo and behold, the sim SkyWest was using had BBQ'd itself the night before, and they took us to a Frasca-real pitch and trim sensitive. Keep your feet off the rudders once airborne unless there will be an engine out during the eval and both hands on the yoke once your power is set. The one I was in had a dual needle RMI and an HSI with DME-I think that is fairly standard. I hope you do well.

It's a heavily modified Frasca 142...they should take the Frasca name off because it doesn't fly like a Frasca nor look like a typical frasca...VERY PITCH SENSITIVE. It doesn't have the "feedback function" like most Frasca's have...so it's easy to overcontrol. Also, it has a TV screen for visual approaches...not that you will do any. I have a bunch of frasca time and it was, by far, the most difficult sim I ever flew. I knew people with a bunch of Dash-8 time from shuttle america that didn't get in....so I didn't feel so bad after the interview. Horizon is a first class outfit and they were very professional...good luck!!!
