Hey horizon pilots
whats the average time you are on reserve before you can hold a line?

Thanks for the info

I have been on reserve for the last year and a half as a captain in Portland. I am only used about 60% of the time. I could hold a good composite line in SEA. I think it is about the same for first officers in the -200.

currently on the CRJ in Den. as an FO it looks like in a couple months I will be able to hold a line. reserve really seems to depend on aircraft and base assigned. Some places seem better than others but like anything else there are Pros and Cons to every situation...

What is the diff in bases with respect to SEA and Portland?

1. Which has the -400?
2. If both have the -400 which is jr.?
3. Which is more jr. for the -200?
4. Is Portland or SEA the company HQ?
5. What kind of trips for SEA and PDX guys on the -200 and -400.
6. I guess it was answered above but how long on reserve for a newhire FO in either SEA or PDX for the -400 and -200.
7. Hiring numbers. I've updated for over a year now and all I get is the nice postcard with a -400 on it saying that "I meet thier mins and will be kept on file...."

I think part of the reason is that I'm sending stuff from the east coast and they may be thinking that this guy is gonna commute across the US. Should I make a trip out there and let them know I'll move, if not just to say Hi. Horizon guys, what do you think?

man I would walk it in if I where you
I walked it in several months ago and low and behold 3 months later and 3 walkins later. I had an interview and a job offer.. If you are serious let them know it my making a trip out here. Also let them know why you want to work for horizon, minus the High tech Aircraft. Make it personal and let them know that you are their man for the job. It seems that is the kind of people they are looking for...
Good luck

Hi!

I walked everthing in. My brother lives near Portland, so I got 2 birds with one stone.

Here I am, 13 years later, and I haven't heard anything from Horizon. Timing is everything!!!

400, is in PDX only
200, is in SEA and PDX, curremtly new hires and upgrades are going t SEA.
Trips vary greatly.
Just can't answer the Reserve question so easily. Mix of new hires between all aircraft and all bases, DEN is moving up the fastest but that won't last beyond the year unless more aircraft are added.
Company Corporate is in Seattle but ALL flight ops business is in PDX (That is where you would want to go to visit)

If you really want to work here, it defenetely wouldn't hurt to stop out and say HI to LaMar or Terry. They really like people that WANT to work here, and flying out from the east coast would show them that. It wouldn't be a guaranteed way to get an interview, that seems to be a big mystery here, but it wouldn't hurt. PM me if you need any other info.

interview prep

What would any/all Horizon guys/gals recommend as far as specific interview prep for Horizon. Possible interview in a few weeks time...

Thanks,

Possible interview in a few weeks time...

They just interviewed a bunch over the last two days and I heard that Lamar said that the April class is the last one for the year. You hear something different?
