let me know if she got the job. As I would like to talk to her about it via email if possible.

Thanks

Very interesting, I just looked at their jobs open board on the horizon web site and it says they are not excepting resumes for flight crews. The only interesting one was they are holding open houses in Denver for Flight Attendents.

How long ago did your friend give them her resume? Man I hope they interview and hire a few classes. I would love to work for them.

She send her resume in towards the beginning of the year. The phone call she got for the interview was totally out of the blue!

I found the same information on their website.....not hiring pilots.

So....who knows!!

Their jobs page has been closed for off the street people since 9/11. The only way to get in now is to have someone walk in your resume`. I have had a very senior capt. and first officer walk in my resume` in July. They said the chief pilot is still working on a stack of 500 resumes. With those two recommendations and sending them resumes every month I still have not got called for the last two interviews. I do know of a couple people pretty under qualified got hired last interview because they knew the right people. Sometimes its who you know not what you know.

If your friend is female and does at least half a$s on the sim and the interview, its pretty likely she will get the job.

Jesus ,don't all hang your heads.... What the fcuk doo you wan't to work for Whorizon for anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I interviewed with Horizon on September 5th. I had 2600 TT, 2300 multi. I did not get the job. However, 3 of the 6 people that interviewed that day were from UND, which I believe they have a preferential hiring agreement with. There was 9 people over 2 days for 4 positions.

The interview is an all day event. Plan on being in the building a minimum of 6 hours, I was there almost 8. In the morning, there are two interviews. The first is with Joanne, the HR lady. She looks over your resume and paperwork and asks some questions about your background. Then, she has a list of questions on about 6 pages that she chooses from. Mine were crew situational type question. When have you had to discuss a safety matter with a captain? When have you gone above and beyond the call of duty? The second is with LaMar Haugaurd, the CP, Terry Allan, and another lady. They review your resume and logbooks and just chat with you, really. It is very laid back and comfortable. It almost seems like they are trying to sell their company to you, not you selling yourself to them. If they like you, you get lunch. During lunch, you work on a 50 question ATP written. If you have taken the test before and are up on your reg's, it shouldn't be a problem. Then, the sim. It is a Frasca 142 set up as a piston twin. Mine was set in Couer D'Alene, ID. Take off, intercept the 090 radial and arc at 6 DME south at 180 knots. Freeze, reposition, and receive direct the NDB and holding instructions. 2 turns in the hold. Freeze, reposition, and shoot the full NDB approach, including the procedure turn. Go missed, and enter the hold over the NDB. Freeze, reposition, and intercept the localizer for the ILS. It is a good 45 minutes at least in the box. If you want the job, get some sim time beforehand.

The interview was on a Friday and they called on Monday with the decision. Very professional company and they will tell you why they didn't hire you and encourage you to reapply in 6 months, if they liked you. Good luck!

New Hire!

Thanks to the previous poster for the interview info... They gave me the Oct 20 class date, and will be based in DEN in the CRJ! cool... I guess they will be having at least one more class this year, as one of the guys I interviewed with is on standby for this class, and number one for the next class.

Congratulations.
You'll be working with some good people. I've got friends there and I've met a lot of their crews on overnights where we stay at the same hotel. Horizon is fairly unique. There is no scope clause with AS so management can deploy the right sized aircraft for the pairing. I don't know anything about their deal with F9 but I think they are in good shape there. F9 will be a player for a long time in the DEN hub. It may take you a while to upgrade but I think you're always better off working for a quality employer versus going somewhere with a quick upgrade but crappy QOL. Another advantage Horizon has over other regionals is that they aren't saddled with any CRJ-200's which have very high costs.
Study hard!
