I interviewed with Horizon on September 5th. I had 2600 TT, 2300 multi. I did not get the job. However, 3 of the 6 people that interviewed that day were from UND, which I believe they have a preferential hiring agreement with. There was 9 people over 2 days for 4 positions.
The interview is an all day event. Plan on being in the building a minimum of 6 hours, I was there almost 8. In the morning, there are two interviews. The first is with Joanne, the HR lady. She looks over your resume and paperwork and asks some questions about your background. Then, she has a list of questions on about 6 pages that she chooses from. Mine were crew situational type question. When have you had to discuss a safety matter with a captain? When have you gone above and beyond the call of duty? The second is with LaMar Haugaurd, the CP, Terry Allan, and another lady. They review your resume and logbooks and just chat with you, really. It is very laid back and comfortable. It almost seems like they are trying to sell their company to you, not you selling yourself to them. If they like you, you get lunch. During lunch, you work on a 50 question ATP written. If you have taken the test before and are up on your reg's, it shouldn't be a problem. Then, the sim. It is a Frasca 142 set up as a piston twin. Mine was set in Couer D'Alene, ID. Take off, intercept the 090 radial and arc at 6 DME south at 180 knots. Freeze, reposition, and receive direct the NDB and holding instructions. 2 turns in the hold. Freeze, reposition, and shoot the full NDB approach, including the procedure turn. Go missed, and enter the hold over the NDB. Freeze, reposition, and intercept the localizer for the ILS. It is a good 45 minutes at least in the box. If you want the job, get some sim time beforehand.
The interview was on a Friday and they called on Monday with the decision. Very professional company and they will tell you why they didn't hire you and encourage you to reapply in 6 months, if they liked you. Good luck!
