Any one having chronic autopilot wing rock issues with Honeywell autopilots?

What type? i.e. Primus 1000...etc

What type of Aircraft?

Thanks, your input could help solve a long running issue!

Have them check the leveling of your ahrs computers (or honeywell equivelant). If they are not level on the same plane, they will fight each other.

They will often have shims under them, and if someone swapped boxes and did not re-level them, it would cause that.

Not sure if you're an NBAA member or not, but if so, look through the Learjet section of Airmail. It has been discussed quite a bit on there with regards to the Lear 45. Apparantly yours isn't the only one.

The Emb 145 has the same problem with the Honeywell setup. Especially noticable in the A/C with only one FMS. The A/C with two Honeywell or with two Universal not quite as noticable if at all. Haven't been on that platform for a year now so can't give you any details.

Legal route??

At what point do you pursue legal action and is it an option for a know problem like this that affects many aircraft?

thanks in advance for input.

This isn't unlike many other problems/glitches that get ironed outafter years of service. I really don't see how legal action isappropriate or effective. And since nobody asked the obviousquestion, do you regularly trim the ailerons? Was the aircraft intrim when you engaged the autopilot?

yes, it is in trim. We have done everything Honeywell and the manufacture has come up with to solve the problem. I am not some pro lawyer sue happy person.
Just want some ideas what our options as operators are when you spend Millions for something that is not right and has not been right for many, many years.

We and Honeywell know it is a design problem with the servo and software. It took rasing hell to get another autopilot problem fixed. So we and the fleet are going thru this one again at a snails pace...once again several years of this.

That stinks it has taken so long. Good luck with it! The 45 seems to be a generally good airplane.

our 45 has had problems in the past, turned out the ahars were causing the autopilot to act up..ONLY WHEN THE GEAR WAS DOWN....turned out the bench they were attached to was not strong enough and when it vibrated enough the ahars went crazy giving autopilot erroneous info, replaced the bench...problem solved
