Hi...

I believe you are looking for AIM 5-3-7. The only reference to 175 kts. is regarding an exception to the speed limits for holding.

"Holding patterns may be restricted to a maximum airspeed of 175 KIAS. This nonstandard pattern will be depicted by an icon. Holding patterns restricted to 175 KIAS will generally be found on instrument approach procedures applicable to Category A and B aircraft only"

Regards

other than that it is 200, 230 and then 265 according to altitudes..double check me on the numbers...its beena while

Formerly propeller driven aircraft had a holding speed restriction of 175 knots. That standard was changed with the publication of FAA Order Order 7130.3A - Holding Pattern Criteria.

In that order, a statement is made in paragraph 1-4(a) regarding the change:

1-4. EXPLANATION OF CHANGES.

a. Propeller driven aircraft standard holding speed of 175 KIAS has been eliminated. Three standard civil holding speeds have been established.

Thanks Avbug, that was what I was looking for.:)

I made a transition back to props (like a lot of us) flying a little corporate thingy and I have an interview that I was prepping for. Wanted to make sure all bases were covered in case asked some tech stuff. Do you know when they made the change? Last time I flew props prior to now was 1998. Thanks
