Ok - and just to stick a sharp pencil in my eye - about that 1000 hours Turbine PIC UPS requires - is that

1) Type rated and sole manipulator

or

2) No kidding 4 stripe Captain time?

(In case you can't tell, I'm one of the former Frac FOs that got caught in a job with great opportunities for a lifetime in the right seat)

FedEx considers it pic time as long as you signed for the aircraft and are responsible for it. It's possible to log pic time from the right seat as long as you signed for the airplane, for example checkairman time. I hope that helps.

Thanks Nightflyer for the info - I'll have the 1000 in a few months anyway. I feel like I'm chasing a moving target - as long as they don't add SR71 time or Shuttle missions I'll get there eventually.

You don't have to "sign" for the airplane to log PIC. You have to be sole manipulator of the controls and type rated if it is a jet.

You're missing the point. FedEx doesn't consider "sole manipulator of the controls" towards their pic requirement. They want someone with command experience. I still logged pic time when I was a captain even though I wasn't the sole manipulator of the controls.

If it truely is a "moving target" as you say, don't worry...if you get the required shuttle and SR71 time, they'll not only want specific "model" time in type, but they'll want it in a specific color aircraft as well.
