I'm thinking about going down to Puerto Rico and see if there is anything going on down there. Does anyone know anything about hiring down there? Places to stay cheap? Times required?

I'll have 135 requirements in about a month and thats when I was thinking about going down for a week to check it out.

I wouldn't bother sending them a resume. They are a scheduled 135 operator, which means you need an ATP. Unless the times in your profile have increased to ATP mins, there isn't any way they can hire you as a PIC yet.

The reason I suggested you do a search is because some of us posted this and many other details about working in the islands. It was covered pretty thoroughly, and things don;t change too fast in the islands.

Season there, by the way, is already about half over, it runs from Novemember through April. Good luck. You could always just go bum around, hand out some resumes, and come home, writing it off as a "job search".

Try Tolair Cargo they fly Dc3, Be18, C402.(www.tolair.com)
or Four Star Cargo also Dc3 and Conv. 240,440:D

How up to date is that list? Meaning.. If I send a resume to the fax number will it find it's way to the proper person? Not that that matters, but it increases the odds a bit ;)

I don't know, Brian, you can find out just as easily as I can. Take the intiative.

I can tell you this . . . finding that first job in this kind of environment requires either a huge stroke of luck, or a focused job-hunt that is a lot more than blindly faxing resumes. You need to call and follow up on them, and follow up every couple of weeks.

If you want a job in the islands, you are going to need to go over there and knock on doors (this, too, was covered already).

They get dozens of faxes every week from stateside guys who are freezing their unemployed asses off, thinking about working in the islands. It's going to take more effort and intiative than what you seem to be showing.

No one is going to simply call you on a blind fax, unless you are incredibly lucky, or they are incredibly undesirable to work for.

Good luck
