Goin to Salt Lake in a few weeks, any tips from the SKYW guys to make it bearable in ground school. Fun stuff to do, etc... Is there a SKYW message board out there?

See ya in 3 weeks

If at all possible, drive to SLC. The shuttle in the morning has limited space and you don't want to be stuck leaving at 630 for class starting at 8.
Have your emergency procedures and limitations memorized before you get to class. If they haven't given you the study guide already, it will come in the mail. Some of the stuff won't make sense now, but memorize it anyways, you'll be really busy once you start class. I'm in class/sim until may 13, send me a pm before you get there and I'll buy ya a beer when you show up.

It is a great program. Make the most out of it. Loftes will be your watering hole. ALPA throws a meet and greet once a month there, they'll buy you a beer or put some food in your belly. They are good guys, take a moment and talk with them.

M-F study hard. Sat, Sun... just relax... go home etc.

See you on the line.

I just interviewed there yesterday... whats the average wait time (i know up to 10 days)? Tech and written felt very strong...Sim was a bit shaky as I misunderstood a direction (thought he said intercept and track to a vor when I guess he said track from...even read back what I thought he said and didn't get any corrections. I briefed this after to clarify what happened)... trying to prepare myself for the worst but hoping for the best!

5-10 days, they could call you if they want you there for a class sooner, they briefed us on how long it would take. No truth to the fedex/usps rumor about the letter. Good luck, don't forget to send a thank you note!

Nice. I can afford the money, for now. I figured that at 24 mo I will go positive with total pay as compared to mesa, with year two bringing me a higher monthly income than before here at mesa...

most important of all is to bring your own beer, as the beer in utah sucks.

State controled liquor stores sell real beer... and the one downtown stays open late (well, 9pm). The one down the raod is open till 7.

Alpa seems to come tuesday after each new ground school starts... so about every 3 weeks, if you stay in SLC for sim you might be able to get 3 or 4 dinners out of them.

yeah they sell real beer but for about double what it costs anywhere else. why do you fight me on this. trust me...bring your own beer. you will not be sorry.

Make friends with anyone in your class that has a current military ID. They can drive over to the UT ANG Base (a mile up from the Wood) and buy beer there. It's all "strong" beer. It's a small BX there, but its something. Or you can make a trip up to Hill AFB (30-45min) where you can get almost anything.

Make sure you get up to the Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City for a few Polygamy Porters!

haha, I'm not sure how it would look with me jumpseating and a case of frosty. Either way I'll be sure to check it out....

Just try not to listen to anything those ALPA fools have to say.....after all you are from the mother of reasons why we don't need them, MESA.
