call the FAA and schedule an Altitude Chamber ride and course at a friendly Air Base near you.

very good experience.

I had considered getting my HA endorsement also, but I decided against it. When it comes time you need it, you will get it. Say for example you get a job flying a King Air, or a Citation FO, etc... When you go to your initial training or get your type rating, you will receive the endorsement. Don't bother paying for it yourself. In my humble opinion, I don't think it will carry much weight in getting hired somewhere.

Marinegrunt I agree 100% but in this case it is the opposite. A friend of mine has a job flying a 421 part 91. They told him to go get the endorsement and we'll give you the job.

Gulfstream 200

You can't get a high altitude endorsement by going through altitude chamber training. FAR 61.31

OK...where is that FAR book anways...ahhh.

I guess I got mine covered on any 135 PIC checkride in a jet then...I swore the alt chamber course gave you this silly "high alt signoff"...

anyways, if you have not done it, its a good experience. Andrews AFB is the closest to NYC I think..

good info thanks.

If you served as PIC of a pressurized aircraft prior to April 15, 1991, you wold be exempt from this endorsement requirement.

send me $200 and a self addressed envelope, and you got it.

just kidding.

a 421 is almost certainly going to require yearly sim training if the owner has insurance. get it in the sim. no extra cost to you or the owner, assuming he is sending you to class anyway. if he doesn't have insurance, don't bother, because you don't wan't that job.

Me and some buddies flew over to Wisconsin for ours, we took it for $350 in a Citation 500. It was a blast. Morning ground school, and then pack a ton pf people into a cramped jet and go do emergency decents... The company is called Wisconsin Aviation. I dont know if they still do it but boy it was fun. I decided to do it even though I fly at FL200-250. Cant have to much experience IMO.

I heard that CAE SimuFlite has an on-line course that allows you to get the endorsement by taking a course on-line. At the end, you print out the endorsement. Not sure of the cost but their website is www.caesimuflite.com

Good Luck,
Spot

This will only satisfy the ground training requirement...you'll still need the flight training for the endorsement.

I know of one of my classmates at FlightSafety who did it there (in Vero Beach). They used the Citation I (or is it II?) simulator. Don't have any idea on the cost though.

I thought about it, but then as most people have already said, I figured that if/when I needed it, I would do it. Hopefully I can get somebody else to pay for it!
